7.14 - 7.18 A PHOTO DUMP

I love snapshots. Ya know those photos tossed in a shoebox in the back of your mamma’s closet or deep in your phones camera roll. Photos made for no rhyme or reason, simply for the act of making photos.

I love a photo dump, photos free of narrative, no artist statement required. A casual snap, to remember later. Documentation. All this to say, you don’t have to try too hard when you’re making photos for yourself. This photo dump comes to you from Seattle these are the things I saw this week.

If you ever happen to find yourself in Seattle, I highly recommend Porchlight Coffee & Records, it’s by far my favorite coffee shop. I mean where else can you go in Seattle and sip an Americano, buy a roll of Ilford HP5, drop off your film for development, and cop Aaliyah’s One In A Million album on vinyl. Did I mention Zach the owner is quite the shutterbug himself? I also got this ball cap I’m sportin’ there. Check ‘em out if you lookin for low key cafe vibes in the heart of Capitol Hill.

Karen came for me.

Before I go, quick story. A Karen confronted me while making the above photo. I was across the street mind you, across the friggin street on a public sidewalk, photographing a mural on the side of a building.

“Excuse me, can I help you?” she says.

I simply ignore her shout from across the street. She repeats herself.

“I’m taking a photo.” Which should be blatantly obvious with my camera lodged to my face.

“Of what?” She replies.

“The art on the side of the building” I say with a sigh and shaking my head.

“Oh okay sometimes people in the neighborhood are up to no good,” she exclaimed.

I snap the shutter and kept movin’.
