Shoot for Selfie

My photography motto has always been “shoot for self.” Photograph who and what you love. Love cats, photograph cats. Love cats and milk, photograph cats drinking milk from a saucer. Love yourself, make a selfie. Selfies get a bad rap, I blame Instagram. Selfies are a record in time, a record of yourself. Being that I’m the documentarian in the family, rarely are there photos of me.

Blake Island

Blog, how I’ve missed thee. Sorry for the radio silence. I’ve been shooting, like shooting a lot. Mostly my long term family documentary project, and a little street where I can get it in. I’ve got another project that I want to start this summer, still formulating it my head. It’s gonna be great, like get me into Magnum, Pulitzer Prize great, or maybe just a “nice job son” from my mom, a participation trophy even. Either way, can’t wait to get it started. Also, I’m planning to share a little bit more on this blog, like books I’m reading, music I’m listening to, and general thoughts. Why you ask? Because it’s my blog and my readership of one, demands more content.

Here are few images I made over the 4th of July weekend from a boating trip to Blake Island. Anchored offshore, feet hit the water and waded onto the beach, kids in tow and camera around neck. Snap goes the shutter.
